I am a little surprised that people judge EPC and A New Dawn based on internet searches... and inaccurate information!
I am reminded of the way the medical community has treated things such as low carb diets and metformin in the past. Those are just two of *hundreds* of things that have been treated as "quackery" by many before they were finally accepted as successful treatments for some women with PCOS (more like most or many). Both are now much more widely accepted and the main reason is that they work - not tests or research - but actual results from the women who are doing it/taking it and having success.
I remember when I first asked my doctor (old doctor) for Glucophage because I had seen it on Dateline. He laughed and told me to stop watching Dateline. He told me to get on the birth control pill and go on a diet and he said Dateline was for morons. HE thought glucophage for PCOS was nothing less than insanity. (I would love to know what his opinion is on that today and how many more women he could have helped, had he been willing to even have an open mind and look into it.... or watch the Dateline tape I brought him that he wouldn't even take from me).
That seems to be how many of these things start. It is just a matter of which ones last and which ones are actually bogus and disappear as a result.
One more thing. I recall a few years back when it was thought that doctors who believed in Metformin were quacks and the idea of metformin was "controversial". Look now. Dr. Glueck's devotion to researching metformin and PCOS is paying off and he is finally getting the respect and credit he has long deserved. His controversial ideas about metformin are thought to possibly reduce miscarriages in women with PCOS from around 50% to below 15% (those are the latest numbers from him).
I truly hoped that we would be able to read the books with an open mind and THEN judge. For me and my loved ones I make my decisions INFORMED. I do not base them on HORSE PUCKY. But, you are free to base your decisions on whatever you want. We will see who gets better and who doesn't in the end.

Tarra, I have to agree with you. Since I found out I have PCOS in the beginning of July, I've studied and read everything I can get my hands on in dealing with this syndrome as well as all the illnesses it leads to. I also have bought the books, and they make lots of sense to me, though it also has sparked some questions, but I don't doubt the science behind what he says. I feel sorry for those women who feel the need to box themselves in. Now this might not be the cure-all for everyone, but if it helps out a few it's better than not being out there for them to read. I pray that everyone finds their way in this. I've not known that I've had it as long as some others, but in the little while that I've discovered it, I've been diligent and I've had to come to terms with certain things. It's not easy. But I don't know if I could be closed to ideas on how to treat it. I won't do drugs, because I'm not a fan of them, unless I've exhausted all other recources. It just makes me sad that so many feel that they need drugs to make anything work. :(

I find it funny to mention New Dawn and Dr. Glueck's name in the same reference. Dr. Glueck is where he is today due to his credentials and his numerous studies on PCOS and metformin. He proved his theories in the medical community. That is something New Dawn has never done.

You missed my point Marie. My point was that not too long ago Dr. Glueck was in the position of being heavily criticized and cut to shreds and now, a few years later, he is respected by many. I believe that Ian Stoakes will go through the same thing and in a few years he will be respected by many as well.

Wow, hi there Marie, long time no see. It's funny though that time hasn't helped your reading comprehension skills.
I guess you missed the part where there are 153 research articles that prove ND? I guess you missed the part about Prof. Dalgleish giving his opinion about the books. Maybe you missed the part about Mr. Stoakes getting interviewed on TV or on the radio.
I am sorry, I am missing the point this time. We are supposed to just focus on you. That's what this is about, again. Why don't you go bother people who don't stuff to do. Maybe you guys can form a club or something.
