One headache after another.
Since starting the nutri-system plan I have had a headache everyday and a migraine 3 times. It will only be two weeks on Thursday. It's killing me. I can't hardly stick with it because, well, I can't function. I was happy that the foods tasted pretty good and I wasn't hungry at all, but, wow, what a price to pay.
So tonight I sat down and was reading all the ingredients and found many things that I have no clue what they are, but one in particular that concerned me was "guar gum". I looked it up and it appears that it was banned by the FDA in diet products in the early 90's because it was found to be dangerous. It has been okayed in "small amounts" in foods. What I am wondering is, if it is almost everything a person eats, is it still considered "small amounts"... and could this be something that is causing me to get headaches?
For the record, I found that ingredient in the slimfast granola bars too.
Why do these people put this crap in ANYTHING that we eat if it's been banned by the FDA????
I'm telling ya, I made myself the guinea pig and what I have found out is that A NEW DAWN IS THE ONE AND ONLY WAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!

Tarra I can only imagine with cooking for so many that it is difficult to follow the New Dawn but as you have found it that may be the only way to go to maintain your health.

Tarra,
I can only imagine how hard it would be to stick with New Dawn with such a large family but as you are finding out it is the only way to maintain your health.

Hi Tara...I am not sure if you will remember me (Christina Parsons Fisanick) but we met at the PCOSA conference in 2001 (I think). Anyway, I have been reading you blog for a little while and thought I would chime in with what I have been doing.
I, too, am very sensitive to chemicals in most foods. MSG and artificial sweetners do me in. So, in Jan. 2006, after coming to my wit's end with PCOS, I decided to follow the South Beach diet. In 14 months, I have lost 60 lbs, and I feel really great. There are no additives, no chemicals, all whole foods. Also, it is the absolute easiest thing I have ever done. I eat all the time, so I never feel hungry or deprived.
Just thought I would post. I know how badly you are suffering with your current plan.

My 16 yo daughter has PCOS and suffers from migraines too. I'm wondering if it's from the processed foods??? I'm going to check into this. I hadn't thought of it before!
