Polycystic Ovary Syndrome & Chronic Inflammation

In 1996, at the age of 22,  I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I suffered from this illness for many years before my diagnosis.  It was like fighting a ghost and always trying to convince others that there was something wrong.  (read more about this battle in my blog)

PCOS is the most common cause of infertility in women and effects about 1 out of 10 women, many of whom go undiagnosed.  The most common hormone disorder among women in their child bearing years, PCOS puts women at high risk for ovarian cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and other serious health problems. Women with PCOS have any combination of the following symptoms: Infertility, miscarriages, insulin resistance, weight gain, difficulty losing weight, (irregular or no menstrual cycle, endometrial hyperplasia and cancer, facial hair, mood swings, depression, & anxiety problems.  Women with PCOS often times have pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia and clotting factors.

I am extremely blessed to have five wonderful children and baby #6 on the way despite the fact that I have PCOS, the most common cause of infertility in women.   I used ovulatory stimulation to have my first five (clomid and glucophage) but baby #6 is a miracle, my "New Dawn" baby, thanks to British Scientist Ian Stoakes.  The medications carry serious risks and I highly recommend trying other options before resorting to any medication.  (Clomid has been linked to periodontis, diabetes, and cancer...  Glucophage carries with it the risk of lactic acidosis, a deathly form of liver failure).  I am very happy to be on the road to being 100% medication free and healthy!

I volunteered with the Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Association for over 5 years..  I am recently resigned my position as the President of the PCOSA.  I am very pleased to be a founding member of the PCOSLiving.com website - a site dedicated to information and support about chronic inflammation and a wonderful remedy called "A New Dawn".  It is now believed that chronic inflammation is responsible for many illnesses and diseases, including PCOS, and that chronic inflammation can be cured by removing the root cause.  You can read more about this at www.pcosliving.com  (or click on the ad for PCOSliving).
